Fascia is a web of connective tissue formed in bands that wraps around all the internal parts of the body from head to toe. It can be found immediately beneath the skin, around muscles, groups of muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels, organs, and cells.
Biologically, it’s what holds us together. Fascia is everywhere! Healthy Fascia Benefits
1. Improves body symmetry and alignment. 2. Increases blood flow for faster recovery. 3. Reduces appearance of stretch marks and cellulite. 4. Reduces the risk of injury. Problem
Whenever there is trauma, bad posture, or inflammation, it causes the fascia to bind down creating adhesions (scar tissue). Resulting in added pressure on everything the fascia is holding. X-rays, CAT scans, Myelograms, or other standard tests, are not able to show if the fascia is the cause of the problem. Unfortunately, leaving many people in pain and undiagnosed. |
How Massage Helps?
Fascia can be treated by the use of a foam roller and/or stretching. However, massage therapy is more effective.
The therapist helps you release the adhesions that are restraining the fascia manually. It will take several sessions, but you will feel the difference.
The therapist will still recommend you to stretch and use a foam roller often. Specially if you are not able to come in for a session in a regular basis.
