Prenatal & Postnatal Massage

Picture
Mild pressure is applied to relax muscle tension and improve lymphatic and blood circulation.

During pregnancy a woman’s body goes through many changes both physically and mentally. Massage is a very important complement for pregnancy care.

Reduces swelling and anxiety, decreases the symptoms of depression, improves nerve pain.

Prenatal Massage is provided after the first trimester. Check with your doctor before booking appointment.
Postnatal Massage is just as important for recovery after giving birth. As early as 5 days after delivery a massage can be performed, only if there were no issues during delivery.

It is considered Postnatal until 6 weeks after giving birth. This period of time, is how long it generally takes for the uterus to return to its nonepregnant size. For this reason, the massage therapist has to consider the positioning and modify the abdominal bodywork as precaution.

If a C-section was performed, or there were complications during delivery (i.e: such as postpartum bleeding), you need to check with your doctor as recovery rate varies for every individual. You might need to wait 4 to 6 weeks before being cleared by your doctor.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Picture
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a powerful technique that involves applying gentle pressure sweeping motions over areas of the body, stimulating and encouraging the natural movement of Lymph Fluid across the body.

The Lymphatic System is part of the immune system, responsible for removing excess fluid from the body; absorbing fats; and protecting the body against disease.
When the lymphatic system process slows down it may be for different reasons, such as, autoimmune disorders, environmental conditions, lifestyle choices, and injuries.

Although MLD might seem as a simple massage technique, know that if performed improperly, it could cause serious side effects for  individuals with certain medical conditions.

Read the Contraindications to see if MLD is right for you.

MLD is NOT a muscular massage. If you are looking for a massage to help with neck or back issues, book a Therapeutic Massage.
The following are common conditions where a patient can benefit from MLD:
  • Autoimmune diseases (such as rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus)
  • Neuropathy
  • Migraines/Headaches
  • Tinnitus
  • Varicose veins
  • Sinus congestion
  • Lyme disease
  • Edema
  • Lymphedema
  • Lumpectomy
  • Metabolic waste removal after CoolSculpting
  • Looking to Detox: If currently experiencing bloating, constipation, feel sluggish, chronic fatigue, are looking to improve your Immune System, Digestive System, starting a juice cleanse, and/or workout routine. MLD for Detoxification works best when consuming a light & clean diet with lots & lots of water. That is No caffeine, alcohol, greasy/fatty foods, high sugar content foods. 24hrs before treatment and 48hrs after treatment.
  • Pre-surgical procedures: Before a surgical procedure done to upper body and/or lower body, 1-2 sessions of 90min is highly recommended for full body. For facial surgical procedure, 1 session of 45min is recommended for face & neck. Follow Detoxification directions to help surgical process.
  • Post-surgical procedures: Following a surgical procedure, the area affected becomes swollen and that pressure causes some pain and discomfort. Procedures such as knee replacement, hip replacement, back surgery, reconstructive surgery, post mastectomy, non-invasive surgery; Cosmetic surgery: liposuction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), Brazilian butt lift (BBL), breast augmentation/reduction/lift, hip augmentation, rhinoplasty, AirSchulpt, SmartLipo (Laser Lipo), J-Plasma (Renuvion), among others.
  • Fibrosis treatment*: Following a cosmetic surgery if MLD is not received, or not received in a timely matter, the surgery area may develop fibrosis (term given to the "lumps"). First the therapist will do an assessment of the area, checking for any swelling before staring treatment. Fibrosis treatment is provided 21 days after cosmetic surgery. Non-invasive, combining manual massage techniques & manual tools*. We can improve or eliminate fibrosis to provide you with a homogeneous texture.   (*Note: Only Manual work is provided in our facilities, No Post Surgery Technology)
Please contact your primary physician if you have any of the following conditions, as MLD is not for everybody.

Cupping Massage

Picture
Cupping Massage is great for reducing pain and inflammation, improves blood flow and also great for relaxation.

The cups are placed over the area to be treated by creating a suction. The suction helps loosen up fascia and muscles, and helps remove toxins from deep tissues and brings them to the surface to be eliminated through the lymphatic system.

We use both silicon and hard-shell cups.
