Just as Spring season is here, we cannot forget those dratted allergies. For most people, Spring is not the greatest time of the year due to the arrival of the spring allergy season. The beautiful flowers blooming, grass and trees waking up from the winter months along with April showers, don’t mix well for someone with allergies, as pollen counts grow making people’s symptoms worse.

As we all know, it is finally Spring! And what better way to welcome the new season than the Cherry Blossom’s peak bloom that takes place between April 3rd and 6th. The beautiful Tidal Basin will be expecting more than 1.5 million people visiting our area over the course of 4 weeks to take part in the celebration of the blossoming cherry trees and their history.
On March 27th, 1912, the first two trees were planted along the Tidal Basin and they remain standing still to this day. They were part of 3,020 Japanese cherry trees given to Washington D.C, as a gift from the Mayor of Tokyo to establish the growing friendship between both countries, U.S. and Japan.
As part of the celebration, the grand National Cherry Blossom Festival, held annually between March 20th and April 14th, brings us activities, art exhibits, and cultural performances displaying and showcasing the Japanese culture. And did I mention the parade, live music, kite festival, and fireworks?

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th every year around the world. The day is the focal point in the movement for women’s rights and marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. It is a day when we all celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
At Feeling Great, in celebration of International Women’s Day, we would like to honor all women in the fields of massage and bodywork. Day in and out, women in the field provide healing to many people, having a positive impact in their client’s lives and beyond.
The medical community is more accepting of massage therapy than ever before. The majority of therapists are female, about 90% to be exact. This shows the important role women have had, and continue having, in the field, and how their caring, nurturing, and passion for what they do has helped place Massage Therapy as a preferred alternative medical treatment. We are proud to be led by women at our business and glad to be part of an industry that not only provides healing, but also helps empower women professionally.

Winter is still here but remember that Spring is coming March 20th (just around the corner!). Most of us cannot wait any longer for spring to get here. Light layers, sunshine, flowers blooming, outdoor activities! Are just a few great things to mention about Spring.
The only downside of Spring is of course Spring Forward, or Daylight Savings Time on Sunday March 10th. Probably everyone's nightmare, to lose one whole hour of sleep that will mess with the start of your week. Just remember once you’ve recovered from a sleepless night, spring will kick off those winter blues.
More sunlight means more time spent outdoors which is what our bodies need to get vitamin-D, we don’t get much of it during winter times. Vitamin-D is great to strengthening our bones, keep a healthy immune system, regulate our mood and boost weight loss.
